I hate those “double your impact” emails — the ones that are like, “🚨🚨🚨 DONATE BY MIDNIGHT TO 2X YOUR GIFT!!!”.
I doubt they’re telling the truth, and sadly, a lot of them are obviously not.
Thankfully, this is a “double your impact” email that is actually legit.
We have a very dedicated supporter who really gets why it’s important to contribute now — what his investment can do now to help stop authoritarianism, mobilize massive voter turnout in November, and protect the elections — versus waiting to give until September.
He’s so enthusiastic about inspiring others to step up and join him that he’s matching every new donation to Movement Voter Fund (the nonpartisan 501(c)(3) sibling to Movement Voter Project) — through mid-May, dollar-for-dollar, up to $300,000.

(As a refresher: MVF is like a “mutual fund” for civic philanthropic giving: We raise money from donors, then channel it toward the most impactful organizations and power-building work around the country. So, when you give to MVF, you’re funding the best of the whole pro-democracy movement — in one fell swoop.)
We’ve mapped out a five-phase 2026 plan to mobilize huge turnout AND protect our elections. Here’s the overview:
- Phase 1: Align the Movement (April - May): Creating a unified plan in coordination with 200+ organizations.
- Phase 2: Build Early Momentum (June - August): Scaling up early voter engagement, voter registration, volunteer training, and new-media efforts to inoculate against misinformation and disinformation.
- Phase 3: Get Out The Vote (September - November 3): Executing a massive voter turnout push that peaks on the first day of early in-person/mail-in voting and keeps going all the way through Election Day.
- Phase 4: Count Every Vote (November 3 - 4+): Protecting the integrity of the count by deploying observers and rapid response as needed: Ballot curing (to correct ballot errors), litigation, public mobilization, and new-media efforts.
- Phase 5: Secure the Results (December - January): Continuing rapid response as needed, to block attempts to subvert or overturn elections and to protect the official certification process.
Crucially, we’re not doing this in a vacuum — we’re working to maximize collaboration among all the major national and multistate organizing and nonpartisan get-out-the-vote groups around the country, to ensure we’re operating as One Big Movement.
As you can see from the timeline above, this plan flops if everyone waits until September to donate. Our grantee partner organizations on the ground need to staff up and scale up now, not five months from now. Hence this email!
