About MVF
Who We Are
Movement Voter Fund funds local organizing and movement-building groups working to shift culture, expand democracy, and shape policy.
MVF operates like a “mutual fund” for civic philanthropic giving: We raise money from donors, then channel it toward the most impactful organizations and power-building work around the country.
We do the research so you don’t have to, streamlining your giving and maximizing your impact by investing in the most effective organizations and innovative strategies.
MVF conducts its grantmaking through a fund at Tides Foundation, a strictly nonpartisan 501(c)(3) public charity.
We place an emphasis on supporting organizations led by and for working-class voters, youth, voters of color, immigrant voters, LGBTQ+ voters, and others who bear the brunt of injustice in the United States. Our local partners build trust in their communities, identify shared priorities, and inspire action to solve problems, thus expanding people-powered democracy at every level.

The Case for MVF
We can restore civil society, beat back autocracy, and build toward a hopeful new era — but only if we organize a movement powerful, popular, and compelling enough to win hearts, minds, and the will to enact progress.
Regressive movements are eroding the foundations of our democracy. Through steady investments, they have built grassroots, cultural, and institutional power. It's time to catch up. To do that, MVF is investing in bold, long-term efforts to:
Strategy #1: Expand Local Organizing
Expand local organizing year-round to maximize participation of the multiracial working class.
Strategy #2: Scale Up Digital Organizing
Scale up digital organizing to capture attention, shape worldviews, and shift public opinion.
Strategy #3: Develop Leaders
Develop leaders to advance policy progress and run organizations that power durable change.
Our Role
To bring about the full potential of our grantee partners’ work, MVF is working to:
