Therefore, although you may find “Movement Voter Fund” in a DAF database search, please direct DAF donations to Tides Foundation for the benefit of fund 2106F, following these instructions:
Submit Your DAF Grant Recommendation
Search your DAF database using the Tides Foundation EIN: 51-0198509.

Gift acknowledgment: If you wish for us to acknowledge the receipt of your gift, please ensure that you include your name and address, or at a minimum, the name of your donor-advised fund, in the grant recommendation.
Ensure Proper Tracking of Your Gift
Upon submitting your recommendation, please complete Tides’ online contribution form. This will ensure that your donation is tracked accordingly. This is especially important if you indicate an electronic transfer of funds from your financial institution to Tides.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Only check the box to remain anonymous if you don’t want us to know the gift is from you. We will always keep your donation non-public, so you do not need to check the box for that purpose.

Why Give From an IRA
You may gain a tax advantage to give to Movement Voter Fund at the Tides Foundation directly from your Individual Retirement Arrangement (IRA).
This type of gift — a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) — allows individuals over 70 ½ years of age to transfer substantial funds tax-free each year when done properly. If you are at least 73 years old, the QCD can also count towards your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from the IRA and be untaxed, unlike distributions made directly to you.
Please contact your IRA custodian, tax professional, CPA, or financial advisor to discuss your situation before making a donation. This document does not constitute tax or legal advice.,
Many IRAs are eligible for QCDs. Traditional, Rollover, Inherited, inactive SEPs, SIMPLE, and even Roth IRAs (under certain circumstances), may all be eligible.
To be free of income tax, the distribution must be made directly by the trustee of your IRA to an eligible charitable organization (e.g., Tides Foundation).
Individual QCD limits are indexed to inflation. For the most up-to-date limits, please contact your IRA custodian, tax professional, CPA, or financial advisor.
You need not itemize to make a QCD; you can also take the standard deduction.
To qualify, the QCD funds must come out of your IRA by your RMD deadline.
How to Give From an IRA
Contact your financial advisor or IRA custodian and ask for help making a Qualified Charitable Distribution. Refer them here for specific instructions.
To properly credit your gift, you or a representative must complete this form for Tides. IMPORTANT NOTE: Only check the box to remain anonymous if you don’t want us to know the gift is from you. We will always keep your donation non-public, so you do not need to check the box for that purpose.
Email your MVP Philanthropic Advisor or advisor@movementvoterfund.org and include the amount, date initiated, and IRA custodian’s name.
You will get a tax receipt directly from Tides Foundation. Be sure to include your name and address with the donation.
Our role is to empower and strengthen the organizing work of hundreds of local groups across the country. To that end, we re-grant donations from our donors directly to groups, unless you specify otherwise. But it takes staff and resources for us to do this work. If you believe in our work and can contribute to supporting our operations and internal team, please contact us.
We would be honored for you to leave a gift in your estate. Contact us for details.
We are happy to direct restricted gifts to specific regions, states, or focus areas. Restrictions must be in writing, with a recommended minimum of $25,000 (or less if a first-time gift or tied to larger giving).
Please note: We always prefer unrestricted gifts, which allow us to respond to ever-shifting conditions, seize critical opportunities, and close key budget gaps as nimbly and strategically as possible.
