We are investing in grassroots leaders and their organizations to create a shared vision for an equitable democracy through storytelling and collective action.

Grassroots Stories
Across the country, grassroots organizers are on the frontlines fighting for voting rights, racial and economic justice, labor rights, and so much more for Black, Latinx, Indigenous, LGBTQ, and working class communities. As we help them tell their stories and build their platform, we create opportunities for them to expand their impact and create lasting change.

Cohort Grantees
These grassroots organizations are building power by ensuring that our systems are responsive to all people and that working class people and communities of color can access the resources they need to thrive. To ensure a better democracy for all, it is necessary to support on-the-ground groups across the country who are doing this work day in and day out.
In partnership with Movement Voter Fund, Kerry Washington launched the 2-year Vision Into Power Cohort to provide 10 grassroots organizations with resources and support to accelerate and scale their impact. The initial grantees are:
1 Hood Media
A PA-based collective of socially conscious artists and activists who seek to establish a platform for artistic expression to further the economic and creative advancement of artists.
Action St. Louis
Building a future where every Black life can thrive and where their communities are free of oppressive institutions that have caused them harm.
Advance Native Political Education Fund
Builds power in Indigenous communities to protect tribal sovereignty and determine the policies, resources and leadership to ensure their cultures and future generations are protected.
Arizona Coalition for Change
Empowers everyday people to transform their community through building civic power, just and equitable schools and safer neighborhoods.
Florida Rising Together
A new people-powered statewide organization working to advance electoral, economic and racial justice across Florida.
Make the Road Nevada
Builds the power of Latinx and working class communities of color to achieve dignity and justice through organizing, policy innovation, and transformative education.
New Virginia Majority Education Fund
A statewide voter registration and organizing powerhouse with strength in the African American and immigrant communities.
Southerners on New Ground (SONG)
Leading a multiracial strategy across counties in Georgia and building a base that centers Black, Brown, trans, queer, immigrant, and working class communities.
Youth Rise Texas
Working to create the conditions for young people to rise from systems of oppression.
We the People Michigan
An initiative to build multi-racial, urban-suburban relationships for organizing.
